Therapy Services, Payment, Insurance, and Scheduling FAQs

Is this service the right fit for us? The couples I work with are often tangled up in patterns of high conflict, mistrust, or sexually problematic behaviors. Sometimes there’s been violence or serious hurt. Sometimes it’s just the slow, aching distance that’s built up over time. And yet, under all of that pain, there’s something real: a deep longing to connect, to heal, or to part ways with dignity. What you want is closer than you think—it’s right here, even if right now, you can’t see it clearly. I specialize in helping couples find their way through the mess: untangling the knots, slowing down the chaos, and making a different kind of conversation possible. I have no doubt that I can help you face whatever you’re up against. The real question is: are you ready to do the work to heal your relationship? I know I’m ready—and fully equipped—no matter what you bring in. I’ve packed my Therapy Services pages with everything you need to make an informed decision—no extra steps, no surprises. If you’ve reviewed the information and still have questions, or you’re wondering if a service is the right match before booking, reach out through the Contact Form below. I’m happy to help you figure it out.

Can I schedule a consultation call with you? I’m thrilled that you’re considering working together! To ensure we’re a good fit, I’ve made sure my website has all the information you need about working with me—so you don’t have to wait for a consultation call. My scheduling demands have led me to stop offering free consultations since January 2024. Instead, I encourage you to book a first session to experience how we work together. I’m confident in the value I provide, and this gives you the best way to see if we’re the right match! I’m also adding video content to my Therapy Service pages, giving you another way to get a feel for what it's like to work with me. If you still have questions or aren't sure which service is right for you, feel free to reach out via my Contact Form —I’m here to help!

Do you offer Superbills for insurance? Yes, I do—but only for individual therapy sessions where I can provide a mental health diagnosis. Couples therapy and discernment counseling do not include a mental health diagnosis and are typically not reimbursed by insurance. For couples therapy, I can include a Z code (Z63.0 – Relationship distress with spouse or partner), which some insurance plans may reimburse—but MOST do not. Please check with your insurance provider to find out whether they will reimburse services with a Z code or those without a formal diagnosis. Reimbursement should be seen as a bonus not a requirement for working with me.

What are your fees? $400 for 50 minutes, $600 for 80 minutes. I like all couples/families to start with 80 minute sessions either weekly or biweekly. After things start to shift and you start to feel better we can discuss if 50-minute sessions will be just as effective. Discernment counseling: $800 for 2 hours Please visit my Couples Therapy Intensives page for my current intensive prices.

Do you have availability? What is your schedule? I intentionally keep my caseload small, so I typically have availability within 1-2 weeks. Generally, I’m available Tuesday afternoons, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9am-3pm EST. I sometimes reserve Fridays for intensive sessions. I do not offer therapy after 4pm EST or on weekends, except in rare circumstances (occasionally, I may schedule a couples therapy intensive on a weekend). If you’re looking for a therapist with consistent evening or weekend availability, I may not be the right fit for you.

How do we schedule an intensive with you? When you reach out through my Contact Form, I’ll send you available times for two 80-minute sessions and one (or two) 3-hour intensive therapy blocks. All intensives begin with two required 80-minute intake sessions: The first is a joint session where we’ll all meet together. The second includes individual sessions with each of you separately. After these, we’ll meet for the 3-hour intensive therapy block. If you’d like to reserve two 3-hour blocks, we can arrange that as well. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out via my Contact Form—I’m happy to help!

What if we need to reschedule? A full-fee, non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking for all initial intakes for weekly or biweekly therapy, Discernment Counseling, and Intensive Therapy services (including the two 80-minute intake sessions required for Intensives). Rescheduling: If you need to reschedule, I ask for at least 48 hours' notice. With appropriate notice, you may apply your full fee to a new appointment: For weekly, biweekly, and Discernment Counseling services, the rescheduled session must occur within 2 weeks of your original intake session. For Intensive Therapy services, the rescheduled block must occur within 2 months of your original booking. If you do not reschedule within these timeframes, the initial full-fee deposit will be forfeited. Please note that by reserving your time, I commit that space exclusively to you, turning away other clients to honor your commitment. These policies are in place to respect the time and energy we’re both investing in your work together.
