Couples Therapy
in Townsend, Massachusetts

Hope and healing when you need it most.

You’ve read the books.

Tried the exercises.

Practiced I - statements.

Yet nothing seems to last.

It’s exhausting to feel out of touch with the one you love most. Maybe life has thrown new challenges your way—raising a new baby, navigating parenting struggles, caring for an aging parent, or dealing with betrayal or past hurts. Perhaps both of you have been through difficult experiences, and

now you just don’t know how to reach each other anymore.

You’re not alone—and you don’t have to keep spinning your wheels.

Why Couples Therapy Works With the Right Approach

Emotionally Focused Therapy works because it addresses the heart of the relationship: the emotional connection between partners. Many couples get stuck in repeated arguments, distance, or frustration, and nothing seems to change. EFT helps you break that cycle by guiding you to understand what’s really happening beneath the surface—what each of you really feels on the inside, the tender spots you keep hidden or defend.

In our work together, I help you both slow down, even when it feels impossible. I show you how to reach each other again, respond instead of react, and rebuild trust and closeness. EFT doesn’t just treat the conflict—it transforms your connection.

Why Couples Therapy Works With the Right Provider

Helping couples stop repeated arguments and rebuild connection requires more than good intentions. It takes experience, skill, and a deep understanding of relationship dynamics. If you've tried couples therapy before and felt it didn't help much - I'm here to help change that paradigm.  Many therapists "see couples" but aren't dedicated couples therapists. Helping couples stop their repeated arguments and build a bridge back to each other requires chops and enough experience. Repetition in this business matters and I've got both.

How EFT Couples Therapy Helps with Infidelity and Major Relationship Injuries

Infidelity, betrayals, and other deep relationship injuries can leave couples reeling. For the injured partner, you might wonder if you can ever trust your partner again. For the injurer, the guilt and shame may be making you hide away. Both of you are hurting. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) offers a structured, research-backed path to healing—even after the most painful breaches of trust.

EFT has a model within our model called the Attachment Injury Repair Model (AIRM). Because I’m a highly trained EFT therapist, I know how to guide both of you to have the conversations you need to begin the repair process. This isn’t surface-level—the injurer needs to allow the pain they caused to truly register, and the injured needs to “feel felt” by the one who caused the harm. Both of you need support as you navigate this tough terrain.

In our work together, I will guide each of you to navigate these intense emotions, stay present with your partner even when you yourself are activated, and have the conversations you can’t have at home. With the right guidance, even major injuries can become turning points that strengthen your partnership instead of breaking it.

Frequently Asked Questions About Couples Therapy in Townsend, Massachusetts

Why do we keep fighting about the same thing over and over?
It’s not about the argument itself—it’s about the emotions and unmet needs underneath. EFT helps you see the patterns, understand each other’s fears, and finally respond instead of react, breaking the cycle for good.

How do we reconnect when it feels like we’re strangers?
Connection isn’t lost—it’s hidden beneath hurt, distance, and stress. I guide you both to open up safely, share what matters most, and rebuild trust and closeness step by step.

Can we survive betrayal or infidelity?
Yes. Even the deepest wounds can become turning points. Through EFT and the Attachment Injury Repair Model, I help you process pain, rebuild trust, and create a relationship that’s stronger and more secure than before.

Why does it feel like I’m always “on guard” around my partner?
You’re carrying past hurts—your brain is protecting you. EFT teaches you how to lower the defenses, communicate safely, and feel emotionally secure again, even after repeated disappointments.  If you have trauma in your background, we go slow to move fast. You’ve survived a lot—your defenses were needed then—but you can learn to become more flexible with your defenses to create the relationship you long for.

What if my partner doesn’t want therapy?
You have some options. Individual work can start changing patterns immediately because you'll learn to change your steps in the dance.  If one of you is truly leaning out of your relationship, Discernment Counseling would be the first step to help you both decide if you want to work on your relationship or separate with clarity.

Why do we drift apart even when we love each other?
Life stress, past trauma, and repeated misunderstandings can create emotional distance. EFT helps you understand why you drift, and gives you the skills to reconnect and feel safe together again.

Can therapy really stop the arguments without just papering over things?
Yes. We don’t just “talk it out”—we dig into the emotional drivers of conflict and reshape the way you relate. I help couples move from arguing in circles to truly understanding each other.

Is it too late to fix our marriage or partnership?
It’s never too late. No matter how far apart you feel, the patterns that keep you stuck can be changed.

How do we keep love alive under all the stress of parenting, work, or life?Life piles on pressure, but EFT teaches you to stay emotionally connected, even when stress is high. You’ll learn how to show up for each other and hold the stress of life together, no matter what challenges come your way.

Why should we work with a highly trained EFT therapist instead of a “general” couples counselor?
Rebuilding connection requires skill, repetition, and deep experience. I’ve helped countless couples navigate high-conflict, betrayal, and emotional distance—and I know the precise steps that create real, lasting change.  Most couples wait too long before seeking the right help. I would suggest getting quality help right from the start.
